Mohamed Haoues's story

From Tunisia

After finishing a Bachelor’s degree in the city of Québec from 2007 to 2011, I came to Greater Montréal for a Master’s program, which I completed this year. I stayed here to work. I now work for one of Québec’s largest financial institutions. I certainly intend on staying in Greater Montréal for good, and I have, incidentally, just bought a condo here.

I chose Greater Montréal because it’s a major metropolitan area, with a rich cultural offer, many movie theatres, and because everything is accessible by public transit. On a professional level, there are numerous opportunities and possibilities to meet new challenges. It’s a metropolis where there is a lot of action!

Another thing I appreciate is the kindness of Montrealers. The people here are especially welcoming. I also like Greater Montréal’s unique character: it’s an authentically North American urban centre but with a European quality.

The Place des Arts
My 3 favorite places in Greater Montréal

The Place des Arts

It's a one-stop art complex. I mainly go there to attend Montréal Symphony Orchestra concerts since I have a membership, but also occasionally for festivals such as the Montréal International Jazz Festival and the Montréal Just for Laughs Festival.

Microbreweries

There are several interesting microbreweries in Greater Montréal. My favorite are Benelux and the Saint-Bock, both for the atmosphere and for the beers served there. I enjoy their authentic, artisanal products.

L’Express restaurant

There are excellent restaurants in Greater Montréal, but I'm especially fond of this St-Denis street location that serves classic French-bistro fare.
