École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS)

École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is a part of the Université du Québec network. Specializing in teaching and applied research in engineering and technology transfer for business, ÉTS trains engineers and researchers who are recognized for their practical and innovative approach.

In light of its mission, which focuses on applied engineering, and its close ties with industry, ÉTS stands resolutely apart from other university institutions in Québec. ÉTS is the only engineering school in the province that offers undergraduate programs designed specifically for graduates of college-level technical programs.

Study programs at all levels are based on the acquisition of practical knowledge to equip students with a unique expertise. Undergraduate programs at ÉTS entail more laboratory sessions and practical work than any other undergraduate engineering program in Québec.

ÉTS offers more than 86 study programs at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels, featuring a significant co-operative education component. This approach enables undergraduate students, along with certain graduate and post-graduate students, to learn through practice. Students must successfully complete three paid internships in the industry (at least twelve months in total) in order to receive their degree.

The ÉTS campus is located in downtown Montréal. Approximately 11,000 students enjoy an environment that is conducive to research and a dynamic student life, with full access to the recognized expertise of ÉTS professors, personalized guidance and an education that focuses on practical activities, laboratory work and executing projects with real-world applications. Every year, ÉTS works with more than 1,200 companies that offer co-op work terms for its students and provide its professors with mandates in the development of industrial applications.

Home to close to 25% of the entire population of Bachelor-level engineering students in Québec, ÉTS also offers Master’s and Doctoral programs. ÉTS graduates can be eligible to join the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
