Manolis Kyprianou's story

From France

I visited several student fairs to choose the university where I’d pursue studies in commerce. That’s where I met a few representatives from the Greater Montréal university where I finally enrolled. I wasn’t necessarily intending on studying abroad, but the university appealed to me. I thought it would be easier for me to get used to this new life since people in Québec speak French.

The quality of life I discovered in Greater Montréal was quite phenomenal. The region is clean and safe and has many parks and green spaces. And for a metropolitan area, the apartments are quite spacious. You have room to breathe here!

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I initially wanted to move to a warmer-climate country. But my girlfriend and my entire network were here in Greater Montréal, so staying made more sense. And, over time, you get used to winter.

It was during this period that I started my own apartment rental business. The business start-up process turned out to be very easy for me. Although I was 22 years old and fresh out of university, the business community welcomed my partner and I with open arms. Greater Montréal truly does offer an enabling framework to entrepreneurs.

The Mile-End

I live in this neighbourhood, where French- and English-speaking people live peacefully, side-by-side. It has many great little shops and restaurants.

Laurier Park

With its mature trees, swimming pool and pétanque grounds, this park is perfect for picnics or to unwind during warm weather. It's a nice place to relax with friends and enjoy the summer.

Old Montréal

With its narrow, cobblestone streets and magnificent architecture, this district stands out from the rest of the metropolitan area. I love going there for a stroll.
