Maha Berechid's story

From Morocco

After my studies in a French college in Morocco, I was looking for a trustworthy, esteemed international university where to continue my studies in French. The universities in Greater Montréal stood out by their prestige and my bachelor’s degree and master’s in economics certainly are proof of this reputation!

Here, I immediately felt well-supported. The student atmosphere was pleasant. We formed study groups to do our homework. I felt well-supported by my peers and professors.

When I finished my master’s degree, I had already began taking steps towards obtaining permanent residency in Canada and today, I am a Canadian citizen. I fell in love with Greater Montréal’s culture, with how open-minded people were and how easy it was to build ties — both personal and professional.

Initially, I worked at the local chamber of commerce and today, I am employed by the Montréal public administration.

Greater Montréal truly is a place where anything is possible. You can easily trace your own path, move ahead in your career, switch fields or start your own business. Here, you’ll find everything you need to reach your full potential. By settling down here, my goal was to seize this opportunity.

Jean-Talon Market

I'm a foodie, so this place is a must for me. I always try to live not far away from it! It's a multiethnic public market where you'll also find tons of restaurants and a festive atmosphere.

The Quartier des spectacles

I am really fond of music and culture, in general, and this district has become very attractive due to the extensive overhaul of Sainte-Catherine Street. The entire metropolitan area's elegance and refinement is embodied in this district.

This is where I first experience Greater Montréal’s life. When I was in university, we would go out around this neighbourhood for coffee or a drink.
