Are we eating well in Greater Montréal?

Greater Montréal: a Gourmet Destination

Epicurean and generous, Greater Montréal offers foodies and food connoisseurs the chance to indulge in delicious food and delight with pleasure.

From culinary festivals and food trucks, to world cuisine restaurants and food markets or grocery stores, here is a short tour of a few places to check out and tasty gourmet events not to be missed.

Street Food

For a few years now, Greater Montréal has welcomed  food trucks. More and more popular with the Montrealers, they crisscross the streets of the metropolitan area and meet around festivals and places of interest.

Check Tourisme Montréal’s website for a guide to Montreal’s food trucks and street food.

Grocery Stores and Food Markets

For those who like to cook, you will be spoiled for choice: there are public markets (Jean-Talon, Atwater, Maisonneuve and the marché Lachine), Lufa Farms and many varieties of organic baskets delivered right to your door.

Affordable Restaurants

There are also a wide variety of reasonably priced restaurants that serve food from around the world. Many websites lists inexpensive and delicious foods online: MTL Blog’s 20 Montreal’s Restaurants To Eat At For Under $20, Eater Montreal’s 21 Go-To Cheap Eats Restaurants in Montreal, or Thrillist’s The 16 Best Spots For Cheap Eats In Montreal.

Festivals That Will Delight Your Taste Buds

Every summer, BouffonsMTL!’s open-air village sets up shop in downtown Montréal. This two-week gourmet event brings together food trucks, bars and kiosks.

Every year, close to 200 winemakers, distillers and brewers gather at Place Bonaventure in Montréal for la Grande Dégustation. Here, close to 13,000 wine, beer and spirits lovers come together to share their passion for beverages.

Restaurant Day is a culinary carnival where residents can create ephemeral restaurants. This initiative, launched by the city of Helsinki in Finland, invites curious and novice chefs to partake. To stay informed about their news, you can follow their Facebook page.
